Another first time house on this year’s home tour is the circa 1860 Carpenter Gothic Cottage at 325 North Eagle owned by Barbara Cooke since 1992. There is some speculation that this house was built to serve as a workman’s cottage during the making of bricks and construction of Oak Hill which is also on the tour. An interesting architectural detail which can be seen from the attic is the spiral chimney.

Since purchasing the home she has redecorated the interior and completed a den from an unfinished room. There is a collection of hour glasses which are displayed formally in the parlor and several others throughout the house. A custom made brass table lamp, designed by Barbara, is over 4½ feet tall and sits on a white table with brass legs and railings which were also designed by her for that particular lamp.
